This document presents the results of the Linux Compatibility test of the TrippLite SmartPro 700, model 3000 and Caldera 2.3 eServer on an IBM Netfinity server.


AppLabs' Linux compatibility testing of this system showed the TrippLite SmartPro 700 to be compatible with Caldera 2.3 eServer. The TrippLite SmartPro 700 model 3000 is awarded the AppLabs Linux Compatibility mark.

Hardware Details

The following table defines the hardware configuration details for the tested system.

Hardware Configuration Information
Motherboard and ProcessorThe system tested contained four (4) Intel Pentium II Xeon processors clocked at 700 MHz and 2 MB cache each. System was tested with 512 MB RAM.
Display Adapters S3 Savage 4 integrated display chip.
I/O Busses The system includes a standard floppy drive interface. There are PS/2 style keyboard and mouse ports present. The tested system included one (1) IBM ST39103LC hard drive. There are Zero (0) ISA slots; five (5) 64-bit PCI slots and one (1) 32-bit PCI slot; no AGP slots; and, two USB ports.
Network InterfaceAn onboard AMD PCI Net32 NIC interface.
Included PeripheralsThe included CD-ROM drive is an Atapi-type 40X IDE drive. The system was tested with a Dell Quietkey keyboard (101-key standard) and a generic 3-button PS/2 mouse.
Miscellaneous Hardware There are two standard 16550A serial ports and one management serial port. There is one bi-directional parallel port. There is one 1.44 megabyte floppy drive. There are two RS485 ports.

Related Notes

1. Computer used in testing (IBM Netfinity 6000R) was recently tested and has proven serial ports.

2. Users should use the software/install procedure in the Unix directory on the CD-ROM and not use the RedHat-specific .rpm file unless they are using RedHat OS.
