Notes and Observations:

The laptop will boot and use the external monitor or the LCD. The laptop will boot to dual mode, but will not switch to only the LCD or to only the external monitor with the FN key.

On installation, RedHat loads the SMP version of the kernel which causes the system to appear to hang at “Initializing Hardware… Storage network” message
in the boot process, but after a wait of about 20 minutes it will complete the boot process. The corrective action is to hit the enter key when the linux loading
message comes up and select the non-SMP verstion (usually the second choice on the menu).

RedHat detects the wireless card as eth1 but LAN connectivity is not functional.

Rather than use the SMP version of the kernel it is recommended that you
select the Uni-processor version. You can do this by hitting the enter key
when you first see the linux prompt, and selecting the second non-SPM
option. We recommend that after you complete the boot process you edit the
grub.config file located in /boot/grub/. You will notice that there are two
sections of code near the bottom of the file of three or four lines each,
move the second group (the uni-processor kernel) above the first (the SMP
kernel). This will then automatically select the non-SMP kernel by default
 in the future.
