Notes and Observations:

Concerning the SuSE distribution testing, if ACPI is turned on in the kernel, the dual port adapters will not work. This is due to a limitation in ACPI. Currently, this affects all new versions of SuSE and the United Linux family. For more information on this subject please refer to: http://www.suse.de/en/private/products/suse_linux/i386/acpi.html Due to the reasons mentioned above, SuSE Linux 8.1 can use acpi=off kernel parameters to disable the ACPI code then enable dual port adapters on this server.

As some additional notes and information concerning the acpi=off parameter, this disables the whole ACPI system. This may prove very useful, for example, if your computer does not support ACPI or if you think the ACPI implementation might cause some problems.
